All 8 BT21 Characters Explained — The Complete Guide

BT21 · Updated August 2026

BT21 brings together eight characters, each designed in 2017 by a BTS member in collaboration with LINE Friends. Koya is RM's blue koala; RJ, Jin's cream alpaca; Shooky, Suga's brown cookie; Mang, J-Hope's masked horse; Chimmy, Jimin's yellow puppy; Tata, V's heart-shaped alien; Cooky, Jungkook's pink bunny. Van is the eighth BT21 character — a guardian robot created by LINE Friends, the only one with no BTS member assigned.

All 8 BT21 Characters — Creators, Traits & Personalities

Koya is the calm thinker, often asleep, with detachable ears — RM's nod to his own introspective nature. RJ is the protective foodie who loves to cook. Shooky is the mischievous prankster with a milk phobia. Mang is the dancer whose face is always hidden beneath a star-shaped mask. Chimmy is the most energetic BT21 character — its permanent grin makes it one of the most recognisable outside BTS context. Tata is a heart-headed alien from Planet BT whose physiology shifts with its mood. Cooky starts out small and trains hard to get strong. Van knows everything about the others and watches over them all.

BT21 Official Plush — Sizes, Formats & Where to Buy

All eight BT21 characters are available as officially licensed LINE Friends plush in multiple formats: Baby (15–20cm), Standard (25–30cm), and Jumbo (45cm+). A 30cm cushion variant is also available for select characters. Shop Cooky, Koya, Chimmy, RJ, Shooky, Van, Mang, and Tata on BT21 Shop — all officially licensed, shipped across the EU.

Which BT21 Character to Choose in 2026

For BTS fans, the choice usually follows their favourite member — the character-to-creator match is the most personal angle. Outside BTS context, Cooky and Chimmy dominate search volume; Koya appeals to quieter personalities; Tata and Van are often the last adopted but the most original in a full collection. The BT21 x McDonald's collaboration expected in September 2026 is set to drive a new wave of demand — especially in Standard and cushion formats. Browse all official BT21 plush to find yours.
